Hi,
What I don't quite understand is why people are considering
"witholding" info about new products, etc.....from CSA2 because of
flamers, pirates, etc....
My .02 worth: If anyone is able to read this post (or any other
post) from CSA2, then I think I can safely assume that the person will
also have some sort of WWW/Internet access with Lynx or Netscape. Not
always, but very likely.
Ok, my point is, you can avoid announcing products, etc......here
in CSA2. But companies like SSII and Seven Hills use the WWW as a
advertising medium and so what's to stop people from checking out Web
sites instead if there are no announcements in CSA2? I mean A2 web sites
are all over the place and people have ready access to them.
So, what's the next step? Stop announcing products on your web
sites?? Stop announcing anywhere online?? Business wise, that's not very
feasible, isn't it?? Given the nature of the A2 market, any medium should
be used to get as many users attention as possible. With Delphi opening
up it's forum to people for free, are you guys going to stop talking about
new products there? Unlikely.
IMHO, the problem isn't with whether or not you guys are
announcing prodcuts here in CSA2 or not. Close down one avenue and a
person can find another one to find what he/she wants. If someone really,
really wants to upload commerically available software, you really don't
have much power to stop them.
I think that the main problem is that there are a few people who
disagree on a few topics. Unfortunately this disagreement has (as usual)
turned into a flame fest. I'm not taking anyone's side, but I really hope
everyone just settles down and so CSA2 can go back to normal (until the
next flame fest that is :)
