The Mach III always did well in review testing. One is connected to
our ][+.
Speaking of a collector's item, the original A2 Wico stick is a
genuine, Edsel-class, showpiece. It has the big red handle and looks
really cheapo; but, it turns out to be a very good game stick.
Advanced Gravis was a very attractive stick (especially the
'clear-vu' model); but, it used small, wear-prone pots.
The Analog+ sounds like a big gray stick we used to have connected
to our PC. It's resistance elements were on a board wiped by sliding
contacts. As I recall, this turned out not to be a very rugged design.
Probably, the weirdest stick I ever reviewed is the one which uses a
magnet instead of springs to supply centering tension. It sounds like a
great idea until you discover that the tension gets _smaller_ as you move
away from center. The stick is impossible to use for game playing.
My favorite A2 joystick is, still, the CH Products "FlightStick".
For 'feel', looks, and ruggedness, it has always wiped out the
competition.
