Re: Two ROM 01s?

If your talking about firmware, there was only one release of the ROM
version 01 and it was the same on all GSes. Your probably thinking of the
ROM 3, where a couple of early beta firmware revisions were leaked out and
sold to the public (or more likely they were dealer systems that were later
sold off as used demo-systems). Those two "ROM 3"'s had a different part
number, and I believe even came on chips with more pins (not even sure if
they were masked ROMs). The other leaked version was easy to identify, it
said "Turbo-28" instead of "Apple IIgs" when you powered it on. :)

Apparently Apple quietly switched to a different ADB micro controller
on latter ROM 00/01 motherboards (because the older chips were very sensi-
tive to temperature, and caused random '0911' errors). It wasn't different
in any other way as far as I know. Has anyone actually verified if Apple
did in fact change ADB's at same point on the original motherboard? (Not
to be confused with the ROM 3 board, which had a more advanced ADB micro).
