816/Paint - deprotect

Does anyone know of a deprotect for the 8-bit versions of 816/Paint
(hi-res, double hi-res, and the convert utility)?

Currently, it only runs from the original disk, which is scary.  My
original already has some bad blocks on it. Running from a hard drive
causes the paint programs to become crippled, with most of the menu
items disabled (including save and print).  The convert program says it
must be run from the original disk and quits.

Fortunately the 320 and 640 versions run fine from the hard disk.

If anyone can point me to the info or the right issue of Computist :) it
would be appreciated.
