II GS keyboard help wanted

A friend just was given a ROM01 Apple IIGS but the keyboard is missing.
It does have an IBM AT keyboard wired to a 15 pin HD connector but that 
doesn't seem to be working.

Does anyone out there know more about this sort of hack or of a source of 
a regular keyboar? It must be possible, a friend typed his university 
master's thesis on a II plus with a (hacked) IBM style keyboard.
