If you have an online chapter of Freecycle or ReUseIt Networks for your area, I strongly recommend subscribing to them (membership is free). Relevant to this group, tonight I picked up a series (almost complete) from 1986 to 1989 of InCider Magazines, with a couple Computes and Creative Computings added to the stack. And per the names of these groups and their charters, these were free.
This is probably a function of where you live. The Freecycle listings in my area (Burlington, VT) consist of NTSC televisions (cheaper to give away than to pay $15 recycling fee), 10-year old Dell systems, cribs and baby strollers. In 2 years of watching, I have yet to see anything related to classic computing.
