Re: Q: AppleTalk GS to MacSE

Why anyone would choose to use SIS over Netscape is beyond me.
There is a misconception that SIS is a web-browser, it is not. It
is simply a GUI version of Lynx, and just like Lynx, works from a
shell account (so no PPP, no graphics, no plug-ins, no downloads,
etc, etc). I think a "Lynx super-enhancer" might describe it better.
It is still a very vaulable tool, and I'd almost certainly be
using it now if I didn't have a PC on my desk. If you want to say
it's faster because there are no graphics to bog it down, then
turn off the graphics in Netscape (but even then Netscape is still
capable of more). SIS is neat, but a slight bit over hyped. ;)

Heh, when I first saw the Macintosh LC, I had a IIgs with 2 MB
RAM and running 2.6 MHz. I recall my first impression was how there
wasn't much difference in speed between it and my GS. :) Better
graphics aside, the LC was a far cry from being the replacement
for the Apple IIgs that Apple had intended it to be.

I should find one, I usually just leave cables dangling behind my
modem, which lead to my IIc Plus, IIgs and 5x86.
