Even though you can connect more modern ink jet and laser printers to a IIc,
it's important to remember that on a IIc, printing of all but straight text
dumps is controlled by the software program you are using, and only a very
few programs that work on the IIc come with a printer driver that controls,
for example, an HP DeskJet.
 
On the other hand, every program ever written that works on the IIc comes
with the ability to print to an ImageWriter. So, not only will purchasing a
used ImageWriter be your least costly alternative, it'll also provide you
with the greatest amount of compatibility.
 
So here's yet another voice that says: "Go for the ImageWriter!" Check out
comp.sys.apple2.marketplace for some of the best deals available anywhere on
the planet.
