   Most to all of these questions are answered in the comp.sys.apple2
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) at
http://www.visi.com/~nathan/a2/faq/csa2.html sections 7.1 - 7.4. I
encourage you to visit the FAQ for more detail that what's given here.

   The Ethernet cards was canned by Apple just before it was finished;
GS/TCP has been in non-public beta for years and is not yet available.

   The above two options are not available, so I suppose you just
have to remain alive long enough to get GS/TCP.

   See FAQ section 7.1. With a serial (i.e. modem or null modem)
connection to a shell account from a unix box, Spectrum Internet Suite
gives you essentially a gui-ified lynx web browser-- no pictures or
standard net browser plugins. [And you don't *need* pictures to visit
most web sites despite what some will say] However, it is reported
to work quite well in what it's doing.

   FAQ, table of contents will point you at a lot.
