I have the answer in this very article--I just need to get a stary out
of my system :)

I got this game a long time ago from Waldenbooks. I spent hours every
week trying to get past that snake. Finally, I gave up. One day, a
few years later, my mom's friend came over. Somehow, she found a rock
that could be safely gotten and carried. She died before we found our
way back to the snake. A few years later, my cousin Jason offered to
take the game to a computer guru friend of his. We gladly accepted,
and, after a year, he made no progress. One Saturday morning several
years later, I got out a pad of graph paper, my pencil I used for all
my Apple // related work, and I sat down, determined that I WOULD
solve that snake problem, even if I had to map out the entire
game-world to do it!!

PART OF STORY WITH ANSWER:I went south. I went south. I went south
until I could go south no more (this was about 3 times). Planning to
continue on my path, I went west. Then, I went south. Lo and behold,
a light rock with no scorpion behind it! GET it, and THROW it at the
SNAKE!

I was overjoyed! I had solved a several-year-long problem in five
minutes!! I went on to discover many new puzzles, solving them
without much difficulty. By the end of the week, I had made it to a
giant. No matter what I did, I could not make him get out of my way,
nor could I bring any of my worldly posessions with me. From then on,
the game has been in cold storage once again :(

I can help you with any of the puzzles you encounter between now and
the giant--just email me :)

If anybody knows how to get past the giant, PLEASE TELL ME!!

Well, you could do like me, and many others, but you'd have to face
the wrath of that guy that put me in his killfile! Oh, no! Someone
would be ignoring your posts! Imagine that!
