Re: WordPerfect/virus

Yes, of sorts, the latest and final release of WordPerfect GS is 2.1f
(or was that 2.1g?). I have 2.1a which seems to be System 6.0.1 compatible
and the menu displays work properly on the ROM 3.

Updates and support of WordPerfect GS disappeared back some four years
ago, and now even its status seems to be in limbo (no one seems to know
who owns the rights to the program anymore, Corel doesn't). I've worked
with it ages ago, but never grew attached to the GS version. Haven't used
it since nor is it even installed on my hardrive.

>Also, what anti-virus software is available for the GS?

Probably the best package was Salvation Exorciser from Vitesse.
It could scan disks for viruses and purge them (well, all six or so :).
Viruses were pretty rare on the GS, few were ever written and didn't
get widely spread around. The only dangerous ones were Cyber AIDS
and Festering Hate if I remember right.

Oh, don't worry about it. These days those viruses are really non-
existant. I've been using the IIgs for well over 9 years now, and have
downloaded and traded disks with countless people, yet not once have
I caught a virus (well, not true, I did once catch the "BlackOut" virus,
but that was on every copy of the original ROTB demo disk and it wasn't
harmful, just annoying :).
