Never rule out self-repair on your Apple //. Some things are very
easy to fix on Apple //s :)

If it has a black-face and a beige or black body, and it syas that in
roman numerals, like "disk ][", then you're fine. That's just that
model's name. If it's some stupid sticker that doesn't look like it
was there to begin with, then you can probably ignore it. Your drive
has a ribbon cable coming out the back, I assume?

An Apple Disk ][ Controller Card, if your drive looks like I
described.

Do you mean the IWM (Integrated Woz Machine)? If so, that chip comes
with an Apple IIgs only. Apple //e's can be upgraded to Apple IIgs's,
but that upgrade kit is hard to find.

For ROM addresses, one of the best books is a small spiral-bound white
& light-green book called something like "Applesoft ][ Reference
Guide". Also, there's some great ROM location sources on the internet
(mine is linked to right off my page). There's an Applesoft guide
linked to off of http://www.visi.com/~nathan/a2. I'm not sure if it
has ROM location stuff init, tho. I don't know where the others are
:( Be forewarned! Neither of these are totally accurate, so a coupla
PEEKs, POKEs, CALLs, rules, etc. may not be true. There's probably
"set up info" in the Apple // FAQ, linked to from that visi.com
address.
