Recover damaged files - BPI Accounting
We have been using the BPI accounting program on our Apple 2e for many
years. However, we currently have a problem in that a temporary helper
wrote on our back-up disk with a ball point - this damaged part of one
file.
I have had a look at the file using copy ][+ and it (The jnl file)
appears to be a sequential data file (type T). One or two line are
scrambled.
If I had an editor for this type of file, I am sure I could just edit
out the offending lines (They cause BPI to stop). Is there such an
editor? The program runs under original Apple DOS.
In an attempt to fix the problem, I used Universal File Converter to
convert the file to CPM. I then edited the errors out with Wordstar in
non-document mode and saved the file. I then converted the file back yo
DOS. This seemed to work, but the file ended up as a Binary (B) type
file instead of "T". Is there any way to simple change the file from
type "B" to "T"?
Any ideas would be appreciated.

Graham & Gerry Moss
PS: Computer is Apple 2e with standard 128K plus Applied Eng card that
brings it to about 1meg, at least under Appleworks. We have two standard
floppy drives (Original style)
