Re: Can Gateway 386 30-pin SIMMs work in IIgs QRAM card?

As I understand, only those 3-chip 1Mb SIMMs can't be used. The GS
ignores the parity chip (9th chip), so does the Mac. Always remember the
SLOWEST SIMM in the first bank to the FASTEST on the last bank.

I wouldn't think there will be a problem (Don't take my word). I
mixed and matched 8 and 9 chip SIMMs when I had my OctoRAM card. Now I
have 9 chip SIMMs populating my Sirius RAM Card on my GS now. I am
managing with 9 pin SIMMs now coz' those PC buggers get rids of their old
286s - early 486s PC and I picked up those SIMMs dirt cheapo.

My Sirius RAM (even OctoRAM I used to own) will only, at most with
unusable SIMMs refuses to boot, or crashes so often you know the SIMM is
giving problem. Otherwise, it doesn't harm my motherboard at any rate.

As I said earlier, DON'T TAKE MY WORD FOR IT. This is only my own
experience.
