Actually,ALL joystick ports that I've eveer seen on a computer (except the
PC,of course) are 9-pin.
The port being on the main circuit board,rather than coming out of a card slot,
also gives the game away. (read "makes it obvious")
Even if apple had made a 9-pin RS232 port,since there's no such thing as 9-pin
RS232,it would've been incompatible with the AT RS232 port.
(the Atari's 9-pin RS232 is different;IBM hadn't created their 9-pin yet!)
Of course RS232 is a hack created so that people could work until the REAL
standard came out.But that never caught on.
