PC drives can't read GS 800K disks. This is because PC disks are
initialized using the MFM scheme while GS disks are GCR encoded. It would
require an additional chip/firmware for the PC disk drive (Macintosh can
handle both formats because of this).
However the Apple IIgs can read and write PC disks using MS/DOS utilities
from Peter Watson and a Floptical drive (it can handle 720KB and 1.44MB) /
Blue Disk board. You can buy a PC Transporter board as well.
