Apple IIe power up issues

I just had a couple of Apple IIe's given to me.  They are not in the best of 
shape, but they are something that I've always wanted but could never afford 
in their day!

One of them boots up with no issues but shows fre(0) at -18436.  I'm not sure 
how to interpret that number!

The second machine seems to be resetting itself constantly.  It keeps trying 
to boot, red light flashes and the speaker beeps.  It keeps doing this 
continuously.  The caps lock light (I think that is what it is) over the / key 
is also constantly blinking.  I'm not sure how to troubleshoot that one 
either.

Any information/references anyone could provide would be greatly appreciate. 
I'm really looking forward to learning these machines!
