Hi Andrea, welcome to the college-era. :)

Anyway, we have the same type of deal here at my school. Essentially,
there are ethernet ports in every dorm room--anyone with an ethernet card
can get a connection. This doesn't work for Apple II's at all since,
(*&%*&%(^( Apple wouldn't let us have an ethernet card. What you need to
do is find out if they have a dial-in shell account. Then all you will
need is a modem (14.4 is best) and a term program (there are several
freeware/shareware/commercial for IIe's, IIc's and IIgs' (the selection
for the gs is the best, of course). You won't be able to do graphical WWW
(except perhaps with Spectrum's SIS) or other TCP/IP utilities over the
phone connection (but you may want to ask if the have PPP, although of
course this would require about a $100 investment in GNO/ME without any
visible TCP/IP stuff available....yet.) However, for doing email, lynx,
gopher, telnet, ftp, irc, newsgroups, etc. it should work just fine. Good
luck in college!
