While it is true that there are not many CD-ROMs for the GS, there is
more that 1.  Specifically, slightly more than two dozen (26?) I believe.
You've got discQuest Encyclopedia & the discQuest set of some twenty
plus information CDs.  Then you have the System 6 Gold Master, your
GEM, the AUGE CD, the HyperCard and HyperStudio CD-ROMs from Joe Kohn,
and the Golden Orchard as a second class of CDs.  The third class are
the font and graphics archives.  If you have one of those 1000
TrueType Font collections on HFS CD-ROM, for example, you can use them
with Pointless w/o installing them on your hard disk.  In fact, once
you tell Pointless where the fonts are, you can have instant access
within your application to all the fonts of the CD-ROM.  This is
because the GS only loads fonts when needed, unlike the Mac which
loads everything at boot time and requires them to be on the boot
drive.  :)  Class 1 and 2 make up the 26 and there are many many
more in class 3 (TIFs, GIFs, WAVs, MIDs, MODs, TrueTypes, text, etc.).
Of course you can play audio CDs too.

Still, if Mac people are dumping their single speed CD-ROMs, why
not pick one up for pennies?
