Okay. In case someone else runs into a similar problem, the IIe manual
does a pretty good job of explaining things. On the motherboard is a
straight-line 11-pin connector called "J-16" intended for the keypad. So, a
cable from an external 15-pin socket should plug into J-16. The
socket/adapter plate should be mounted-- probably in a slot opening-- and the
keypad plugged into the socket.
