James, that's the definition I was using too when I replied to
Mitchell. When I refered to "true color image," I was using the
terminology of graphics software like Prism. Specifically, a true
color image is raw data that is stored in a form in which all the
original colors are present. SuperConvert also uses the same
terminology, if I am not mistaken. To display a graphic on a IIGS
requires that a palette or palettes be selected and the graphic
remapped. Images in which the palette information is stored along
with the pixels (such as GIFs or SHR screens) are not "true color"
in this terminology, whereas TIFs or the 12-bit color capture
raw data files from Visionary are.
