Yes, the RamFast is the most compatible SCSI device on the market. It
works flawless with the Zip on the gs, and probably on the IIe too.
It comes with SCSI tools built in the ROM and allows you to format
and partition any disks easily.

: How can I format a Zip disk to ProDOS? I think I'm missing something here...

On the RamFast's ROM disk "CV.Tech.Rom" you will find a Prodos 8 application
which allows you to format the Zip disk. Since the maximal size of a
ProDos disk is 32 MB, you will have to make four partitions on the 100MB
Zip disk.

First, you must remove the .gz (gzip) suffix. Unfortunately, there is no
working gzip decompressor for the AppleII so far. Fortunately you won't
need one, since Asimov and many other sites have run-time decompression.
Just omit the .gz suffix when you FTP a file and you will receive a
.dsk file.

The next step will be to grab a program named DSK2FILE from a ftp site
and use it to decode the file to a 5.25" disk. That's all!

Remember, there is nothing like an original! Many programs may drive
you insane without docs. Furthermore, the box and manuals are often
beautiful collector's items. :)
