i have one ..it is currently running fv/metal 4.0xev bbs software
as a single line door off my msdos wg/mbbs based multiline bbs. I also
have a //gs (reg version) running a 80's bbs software program called
tpro 4.2f (modified) a bbs/large rpg game etc...along with a couple 386
doors 7 cd roms, telnet in and we are working on www site...if you want
to connect to it telnet in at: lost-gonzo.com or the test www site (with
no www in front yet) also at : lost-gonzo.com.

anyway..end of plug on to the //e in a case...

it came as a rom1 gs motherboard (they never made a rom3 ver of this)
and it also has a metal backplate/base that is a cross between a gs and
//e back punch area...the only other diff beyond that is the connector
plug you see in a //e motherboard....the gs upgrade has one of those on
the motherboard (it is exactly in the same place on a standard gs ..but
it has no connector and the solder plugs are still in place..you could
put your own connector for the motherboard in there if you wished..see
prev posts on hacking the gs by the bugg-power supply guy, he posts on
here occasionally various hacks to the gs)

anyway...i like unit....the only prob i had was a newer mem card did not
have the cornered angled off the front like most //e cards and could not
be used in the //gs uprade..but that was just bad design..i especally
like the fact that i've been running this unit since it was released in
85 or 86 as a bbs machine....and i've prob blown 5 power supplies since
then with no harm to the unit..because people give me //plus's and //es
rather then the dumpster...i could use those power supplies in place of
it...the next one goes i'm getting the buggy(sp?) power supply posted
here occasionally...

i also have 4 meg sequentail card and a 14mhz chip upgrade to a
transwarp gs (also done around 88 or so) ..it really clocks out at
13.75mhz...screams..have had no probs with that either although the mod
sucked to do you had to cut the trace on the 32k buffer piggy back
card..damn near had a heart attack....doing it.

anyway jump on and check out the old software it is the only way i as a
non programmer could figure out how to multiline/telnet a //gs....

p.s .it also came with a replacement metal decal that replaced the //e
logo on the beige //e case that says //gs ....that really catches people
by surprise when they look down at the case and see that!
and you could prob hack a unit like this easily..put the monitor ribbon
plug in the //gs motherboard and cut the back off/modify a //e
backplate...but you prob can just get a reg //gs cheap so no need..
