Joe, AppleWorks v2.0 is incompatible with a GS with lots of RAM.
That's one of the reasons why it was upgraded. The solution is
to purchase AppleWorks v3.0 from Alltech Electronics (see
http://www.allelec.com/). For $12, you get an upgraded program
that recognizes all GS memory and has a spelling checker built
in as well.

Alternatively, since you have an accelerated GS and a hard disk,
consider purchasing AppleWorks GS v1.1 from Alltech (see
http://www.allelec.com/) for $15. AWGS will read your old AW2.0
files and is a fully graphical integrated software that is very
nice on a fast GS. It has a word processor that accepts very
large documents, supports GS fonts and multiple sizes (very clean
when used with Pointless and TrueType fonts, but works with bitmap
fonts ok), and will print nicely to the DeskWriter with Harmonie
or Independence. It also has a comprehensive dictionary and a
thesaurus that provides definitions. And consider that the
EGOed 2.0 desk accessory can read AppleWorks GS v1.1 word processor
files with formatting and fonts intact and then save the file as
RTF for export to the PC.
