Several things.
1. Update to 7.5.5. It's free and available on the Net
2. What version of Photoshop? 3.0, 3.0.1, 3.0.3, 3.0.4, 3.0.5?
3. What size images are you trying to print in Photoshop? RGB or CMYK?
4. What version of the HP Print Driver?
5. LocalTalk or EtherNet connection. If it's LT, then it going to be
slow. How long is a 'very long time'?
6. How large is your hard drive and how much free space?
7. Are you using VM or Ram Doubler?
8. What speed is the 8500?
9. How much RAM is allocated to Photoshop?
