The only way it would have ever worked was if you moved the connector
to the other side of the TWGS. .. or the ZipGS. AE had a habit of
sourcing parts in a niche manner..  only twice in all the years had I
ever come across IDC 40 600 DIP connectors that were reverse. One time
they were not black either. After scoring a deal on them with the
intention of splitting the take with Zip Technology, I was a bit
dismayed to discover I had gotten the reverse connector.  But I was
able to sell replacement TWGS cables for a while.
