Stylewriter drivers

	Hello everybody.

Some time ago there was talk of alternate drivers being developed for
the Stylewriter printer. Both A2 Central and II Alive printed rumors 
about an improved GS/OS Stylewriter driver and an INIT that would allow
ProDOS 8 applications to print on the Stylewriter. The programmers of
the two drivers, so the story went, could not release their efforts to
the public since they didn't obtain the information on the Stylewriter
protocols through an official Apple channel (expensive licensing and
strict non-disclosure agreement); therefore, they weren't legally     
entitled to know anything about writing Stylewriter drivers.
Did anybody out there actually see those drivers (or possibly write
them)? If they did in fact exist, did they work well or were they
in an unfinished state? Does Apple still regard Stylewriter I
programming information as sensitive and proprietary, or has their
policy on this subject relaxed?
