GV Plat: problems resetting

Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can reset GV Plat without
shutting down?  Everytime NN crashes due to type 11 errors, I'd be forced
to restart the CPU.  The problem is the modem still hangs on the line even
after the restart. The connect light  of the modem indicates that I'm
still connected .  I checked  the status menu but it indicated that the
modem is disconnected.  The only way for me reset it is by either shutting
down the CPU after I restart or by physically disconnecting the modem
cable from the CPU and re-attaching it.  This is such a hassle since NN
crashes all the time.
