Hehehehe...they sure did.  At KFest '96, a genuine Apple II Ethernet card,
made by Apple Computer, was plugged into the Avila College network.  I
won't say who did it, 'cause I'm not sure if it was ever talked about
publically, and I have no idea how he acquired the board.  I heard
something about having the need to write software for the thing by
disassembling the firmware, but that wasn't a problem with all the talent
at KFest! ;)

They tested it by sending a message to one of the school's laser printers.
It said something like "Help!  We are trapped inside the computer..."  :)
