   You should be able to access the 3.5" drive as a drive in slot 5,
assuming that that slot is not switched to 'your card' from the
builtin control panel. (Control-open apple -escape).

   Your best bet is to read the comp.sys.apple2 Frequently Asked
Questions (FAQ) at http://www.visi.com/~nathan/a2/faq/csa2.html In
section 7.2, it details how where you can get an updated copy of
ProDOS from, section 4.19 has links to pinouts for all the major Apple
II connectors (including the GS's serial ports), and section 5.* on
downloading mentions where to get comm programs. Both 5.* and 7.2
point you to Steve Cavanaugh's $3 modem disk with ProDOS, an excellent
value.
