It's a Z-80 coprocessor card, like the Microsoft Softcard. It is much better
than (and incompatible with) the Softcard in that it contains its own 64K
of memory and a 4mhz (or 6mhz) Z-80. At one time, it was the fastest CP/M
option around.
There's a guy named John Baker who has an excellent page on CP/M options
for the Apple ][. He has a page devoted to the Applicard and may be able to
help you get set up with software.
