The standard thing for ftp sites is for the file uploader to provide a
short description file. For example, for BSCIt10.shk, there should
be a short BSCIt10.txt containing the descriptionn you posted here
(not that there is anything wrong with posting the descriptions to csa2
as well).

Actually, udl _does_ determine when a file needs changing (it uses a
heuristic to avoid binary files, regardless of the ProDOS file type),
and it also recurses through subdirectories if desired. It's not
"filelist menu driven", but given the context in which it's usually used
that would be a hinderance rather than a help.
