More on Apple II Sound

The chit chat about Apple II sounds that have surprised the listener
remind me of my own experience with "Shan's Digicorder", a product from
India.

I received the demo disk of the Digicorder in the mail one day and
immediately booted it. One of the first things to come out of the Apple II
speaker was the realistic sound (1 bit sample) of a baby crying and bold
printing on the HiRes screen proclaiming: "A New Baby is Born!", followed
by a heavily accented English-speaking voice saying "Welcome to Shan's
Digicorder".

What a riot!!

Anyway, if you haven't heard of Shan's Digicorder, a software and hardware
sound recording and playback package, that included assembly language
routines for special effects and an excellent manual (for all Apple II's)
check out the Music and Sound FAQ, it was described in there.

If you can't find the demo disk at an FTP site, I could probably upload it
to the binaries. And while we're at it, I still have a bunch of printed
brochures sent to me by the system's creator. E-mail me for more info.
