   1,154K (1024K + 128K) is the maximum currently (and probably will 
always be unless someone makes an expanded card).  I have a CT-100c HD 
from Sequential Systems that utilizes the SmartPort, the only way to 
connect an external HD to a IIc.  There were a few internal HDs that 
replaced the internal 5.25" drive but these are rare.  You will also need 
a version 0 or higher IIc to use the HD as the first version (255) 
requires a motherboard upgrade to address anything other than an external 
5.25".
