That's what I and others have said in this thread. DS/DD disks
work just fine in the standard issue Apple II 5.25" drives.

The meaning of DS/DD has not changed, so modernity is not an issue
there. PC 5.25" disks went to DS/HD (High Density), and those will not
work at all in normal Apple II 5.25" drives. Avoid those.
In short: judge by the name, not the 'age'
