I _personally_ think You should get _both_ - _used_ so You will not have
to spend lots of money for the up to date dernier cri that will be
outdated tomorrow. You should be able to get an 68K-mac possibly
upgradeable to ppc with a processor card from someone who needs the
latest technology for her/his business for a reasonable price. In the
same vein You should be able to get a '486 PC for "next to nothing"
investing any surplus money You might have left over for investments in
memory/hard disk. BTW, there are printers with mac _and_ parallel
interface which You could connect to both machines at once...
The PC should have one hard disk or at least a big partition dedicated
to linux or some SVR4 UNIX. Thus You have all of today's important
flavors of OS at hand, which will be very helpful for a CS or IS
student.
