AE parallel pro printer card

I just purchased the card in the subject sans manuals. Can anyone tell me
what the 4 dip switches do, and/or to what they are best set? Also, there
is a small bank of pins that look as though they should accept some kind
of [buffer card?].
Can anyone fill me in on these details?
