i have a guestion...is there a more organized way via some mutual
agreeable party by everyone to just have someone else do the cd-rom
project...(where are you woz?)...anyway..the idea has merit..collect,
and with documentation try to get as many freeware/shareware and
company's who have defunct apple 2 copyrights to contrib with proper
legalities taken care of and thus make a cd rom for distribution for
such in a non-profit manner...the only thing i can see on this newsgroup
is an uncomfortable feeling (right or wrong i'm not gonna get into
it)...that may limit the scope/contributions of such a project...
or perhaps a more 'pure' and 'regulated'/double checked version among
the existing apple 2 shareware/freeware authors out there to compete
with other cd projects you don't approve of...
but i do believe that with a little effort on peoples part , with
safeguards, a repository for original docs giving permission by co's
indivduals on changes or permmision letters (perhaps even scanned on to
the cd for protection..in case of merger of said co's in the future
etc)...
it would seem to be a worthwile project or projects by whatever group or
competing group of individuals and perhaps one watchdoging whatever the
other....
the last point is there are a lot of former apple // sysops running a
www site or other bbs platforms which currently have 7,18 etc cd
changers on there systems, who i'm sure if such a cd presented itself,
would for old times sake put it up on there systems. That is my case....
just have a allfiles.bbs index designation and most bbs pkg cd programs
would have no prob with it...i currently have a mac cd by a company of
mac stuff that works in that framework...
be nice to give a reason to people to dig out there old apple //s from
the closet...most just can't throw them out but that may change unless
some use out of them...
well just my 2 cents worth..but i'd rather see 2 projects then no
projects of this nature...and it can be done ibm shareware authors of
cd's wrestle with these concerns all the time and manage to make cd rom
shareware disks.
my 2 cents worth
