Well, yes, it can, but you need a serial card and supporting software, 
and I'm afraid I can't help you there.  I'm curious though:  Your 300 
baud paperweight wouldn't happen to be a Novation Apple-Cat, would it?
If it is I'd like to take it off your hands.  I'm sure I can find you a 
more suitable paperweight (like a brick) or trade you $5 
(negotiable) with which you can buy a nice paperweight.
