Well, then, here is an even cheaper, easier solution:
1. Unplug the GS monitor and move it to a 'work area'
2. Aim a shotgun at the screen and fire (note: wear goggles)
3. Slip the remaining shell over a $50 color composite monitor
4. Viola! Your GS RGB monitor has been converted.
