First off, who says telephone service is an inalienable right? Second off,
the exponential increase in internet traffic over the public voice network
is starting to wreak havoc. Third off, telephone companies are in business
to make money, not provide for the common good. Fourth off, measured
service (where one pays for the time one uses, just like cellular air
time, electricity, gas, water, gasoline) is a forgone conclusion. It is
coming and it's coming soon. Them's that uses more is gonna pays more. End
of story.
