RE:Lost knowledge
In spite of my "nasty" comments earlier, I HAVE captured the Apple II FAQs
and read them. Must admit it's good. I just commented earlier that not
everyone has web access (I don't -- just e-mail and some newsgroups on a
local club BBS). I generally feel simple questions -- probably from novices
-- should simply be answered. Although they can be informed of the FAQ, I'd
hate to see novice Apple II users be scared of by just being referred to FAQ
without an answer.
Anyway, about FAQ. If it's to be expanded to more than frequently asked
questions, I'd like to see some more details on AppleTalk, particularly
problems and bugs (and fixes ;-)) related to this. A couple of problems I
have found: With my IIgs, I find that if more than 3 network volumes are
online, any GS-specific software (including Finder) formatting attempts
fail. Also, sometimes when a volume unexpectedly goes offline, either the
GS will hang (sometimes) or the remaining volumes online will be
mis-identified with wrong volume names.
Yes, I have a couple of Macs connected to my IIgs -- the Macs with several
hard drives each. The Macs do have a good use -- as file servers for the
Apple IIgs.
