Will agree, but be aware that a lot is decided by the server software.
It's easy enough for me, for instance, to quote since I'm using an
offline reader and can just delete (control-X) with a keystroke, and if
I was replying online the board would ask me if I wanted to quote the
message I'm replying to (then I'd have to edit: D-elete lines 1-8,
I-nsert at line 3 to answer the first question, etc etc...).
But you've noticed that some people's posts are the entire text of a
post with the reply appended at the end? There are editors that do NOT
let you at the previous text. And then there are the ones where the
reply PRECEDES the original quoted-in-full text, another editor's work.
Laziness is one thing, but inability to edit is another. The editor of
my other server's email department doesn't even offer listing or line
deletion, plus quotes in full when replying. That is SAD.
