I would note that I appreciated _all_ the posts of persons attempting
to help.  The SCC.MANAGER tip was obviously something I wouldn't have
thought of on my own (although, Nathan, if I got annoyed enough I
would have gone back over the FAQ and might have found it  :).

As for the polling issue, the drive did not get _obviously_ get polled
(from within any program or the Finder) when AppleTalk was installed.
IOW, the light didn't blink and it didn't make any noises.  Is this
related? Don't know.
