I would  suggest that you check the drive speed on the internal drive
with something like Copy II plus   Prodos is quite sensitive to drive
speed and that fact that you can load other O/S's means there is nothing
wrong with the drive or I/O systems.   Do the offending disks work in
another IIC or //e?
