The Resurrection of St. Woz

APPLE RESTRUCTURING INVOLVES WOZNIAK

Less than two months after purchasing NeXT Computer Inc. and bringing back
co-founder Steven Jobs as a "consultant," Apple Computer Inc. [AAPL]
solidified the return of Steve Wozniak.

Apple said Wozniak will act as a consultant to CEO Gilbert Amelio and
serve on the company's executive committee. Specific information about
Wozniak's role and function within has yet to be released other than his
role as a "part-time advisor" to Amelio.

Apple's additional restructuring and reorganization, including company
strategies and subsequent layoffs, will continue throughout February.
Amelio has said he wants to bring Apple back to its basics and into a
state of profitability before 1998. The company's stock remains wallowing
in a 52-week low.

Wozniak has been active in education since he left Apple, a concern to nay
sayers, who believe he's been "out of the technology industry" too long.
The K-12 market is still very important to Apple's turnaround, says David
Harrah, Apple's pr director. "No one who builds the first PC in their
garage ever truly leaves the technology industry," he adds. (Apple, David
