I went into a used computer store today, and in addition to a ][ plus stuffed
with cards and two 5.25 drives for $5, I brought home a keypad from an Apple
Adjustable Keyboard for $3 more. For the benefit of those who haven't checked
out any Apple products this decade, the Adjustable Keyboard was an ergonomic
keyboard, designed to split in the middle so you can adjust the angle of your
wrists. The keypad was a separate part, connected to the main unit with a short
ADB cable, and has page keys, arrow keys in the inverted T pattern, function
keys, and a keypad. I plugged it into the Standard Keyboard II on my SE/30
and discovered that all the keys work, basically making a poor man's extended
keyboard. I was wondering if it might work on my IIgs, but I don't know of
any software that uses an extended keyboard's extra keys so I can tell. Also,
the store had a minimum of a dozen of these in a box, plus the addon wrist
rests from the keyboard, so I might be able to get these and send 'em to
anyone who's interested, once I can figure out if they work on a IIgs. I
recall that the keyboard didn't work, not even on a ROM 3. I was hoping to
find one, but only saw the keypads in the box.
