It is, indeed. It is more powerful than all former Apple II models
together and I think you'll like it.

The trick is to obtain System software 6.0.1 and format volumes as HFS
volumes. But have one or two ProDos partitions on your Syquest, too.
HFS formatted 3.5" disks can be read easily by Macs. It is also
possible to link both machines via Appletalk.

The first programs should be ShrinkItGS (GSHK) and GSCII. I have
provided GSHK on ftp.uni-kl.de as a self-extracting archive. Fetch
the file to your Mac. Install it on the IIgs and use it to unshrink
all the files from the great archives like apple2.caltech.edu
or ground.isca.uiowa.edu

Good Programs:

Text: Coolwriter 3.0, ShadowWriteNDA, HermesNDA

Communication: AnsiTerm,Proterm,Spectrum (all commercial)

games: Many, check the sites

drawing: DreamGraphix (only 3200 color paint program - commercial)

The most common CD's are the Golden Orchard Archive CD from Digisoft
and the AUGE CD with software for Mac & GS. Joe Kohn (joko@crl.com)
offers some CD's,too. Finally, you may buy DiscQuest from Sequential
Systems and use a whole stack of encyclopedia CD's on the GS.

Think of this card as an old XT with CGA graphics. You can't run new
version of Windoze or the new 'super-super-cool graphics' software on it.
You can use the PC transporter's RAM as a RAM disk.

Connect them to the port with the joystick sign on the back of your gs.

>(two players...)?

Usually not. The only Apple game which I've ever seen which allowed to
use two Joysticks was Archon.

BTW, only machos need pit-bulls ;) I have stuck a picture of Bill Gates
to my front door to scare intruders...
