AppleColor RGB with Mac II video board
Forgive me if this is somewhat off-topic, but my brother may soon
have a Macintosh IIx with an 8-bit 'High Resolution Display Video Card'
(820-0185-08). From what I recall, this is the only Macintosh board that
supports the Apple IIgs 'AppleColor RGB' display, although in 640x400
interlaced mode.
The video card has a DB15 female connector, the same style type as
on the back of the Apple IIgs. Will the AppleColor RGB connect directly
to the video board using it's regular cable, or would I need a specially
made one? I'm also wondering whether the board will automatically sync
to 15.75 kHz h-scanning frequency or if I would need to do this manually
through software. I am well aware the display will not be optimal (to say
the least) but I just want to check these things out before, so not to
blow up my display or the video card. :-)
