The LemminGS Demo has been compressed with GS ShrinkIt.
So, download the demo using either ftp or ncftp; if using ftp, you MUST -
before downloading the file - toggle BIN file transfer. With ncftp, 8-bit
BIN transfer mode is the default, so no toggling is necessary. Then, after
the download, just run GS ShrinkIt.
For some reason, Olivier Zardini uploaded the demo with the filename of
LemminGS.Demo (or something like that). That, of course, will make it
difficult to download the file using lynx or NetScape, as neither of those
will recognize a filename extention of ".Demo" and will therefore download
the file using a 7-bit text file transfer protocol. That of course will
result in ShrinkIt saying that the download is "damaged."
In any case, the demo of Brutal Deluxe's LemminGS includes the first 10
levels of the game. The complete non-demo version of the game includes 92
thought provoking and challenging levels.
